The case for Roland Burris....wagging the dog...

It appears that our illustrious governor Blagojevich has made an executive decision which has created a feeding frenzy for our mass media....Congratulations Mr. Governor!

As our media pundits pore over the good and the bad of Governor Blagojevich having the audacity to execute his lawful "duty" he is described as "defiant". Defiant of what??? His party telling him that they refuse to seat an appointment because he made the appointment?

While Mr. Blagojevich might be getting a hardy chuckle at stirring up his adversaries it certainly could not be the primary reason for his choosing to proceed with his "duty". No.....Mr. Blagojevich knows an opportunity when he sees it....as does Mr. Burris who is simply utilizing his god-given American right to take care of himself first and foremost.

The bottom line is that Governor Blagojevich had nothing to lose by doing exactly what his opponents dared him not to do. In fact, he has managed to divert the media's focus on the upcoming decision by the courts to allow some of the taped conversations obtained by U.S. Attorney, Pat Fitzgerald, to be given to the committee considering the impeachment of Mr. Blagojevich....not to mention the contents of those taped conversations.

So bully for you Governor Blagojevich! You have diverted the attention of the masses from the real issue. As for Mr. Burris...taking care of yourself may, in fact, ultimately be for the good of the Democratic Party, itself. You sir, have placed your colleagues in a precarious position.
